Medical Oncology Educational Grant

The Department of Medical Oncology is committed to supporting the continued education, professional development, and academic growth of individuals who contribute to the department's educational, clinical, research, and operational missions.

This program is intended to encourage participation in educational meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities, with particular emphasis on encouraging individuals to present their work, share knowledge, and engage in academic activities.

Eligibility is intended to be inclusive and is not limited to individuals whose formal employment is within the Department of Medical Oncology. This includes, but is not limited to, faculty, advanced practice clinicians (APCs), registered nurses (RNs), fellows, residents, medical students, other trainees, pharmacists, social workers, and colleagues from other Jefferson Health departments or entities who actively work with or support Medical Oncology.

The intent is to recognize the collaborative nature of our department and ensure that those who contribute to our educational mission have an opportunity to participate in and benefit from this program.

Educational Pillar Funds Request Guidelines

  1. All members of the department may apply for funds, with the following guidelines:

    • Discretionary expense allowances provided by the department, grant funding, external sources, or any other Jefferson Health entity must be exhausted first.
    • All members of the Department of Medical Oncology, throughout the Jefferson Enterprise, will be eligible to request funding.  This includes trainees at all levels, physicians, nurses, advanced practice clinicians, pharmacists, social workers, etc.
    • Prioritization for funding will be at the discretion of the Medical Oncology Continuing Education Committee
    • Preference will be given to those who are earlier in their careers rather than more senior members of the department
    • Preference will be given to those who present at meetings rather than those who attend but don’t present
    • Attempts will be made to cover expenses throughout the enterprise, and not limit to one location
    • Specific criteria – up to $1000/ person, and in general, may not be repeated within a two year period.
  2. Requests will be reviewed on a quarterly basis at the meetings of the Medical Oncology Continuing Education Committee.     In order to process appropriately, this will be at the time of the meetings in May, August, November, and February.
  3. Forms should be filled out and sent to MedOncEduPrograms@jefferson.edu  All requests must have comments/ approval from the requestor's mentor/ supervisor.  If it is difficult to do that on the pdf form, the supervisor can email comments to the same email address.
