Dr. Rob Miller received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Jefferson in 1988 and is currently Distinguished Professor of Biology and the Director of the Center for Evolutionary & Theoretical Immunology at the University of New Mexico.  During his career he has mentored more than 20 graduate students and several postdoctoral fellows and lectured to more than 5,000 undergraduates.  His research interests are in the evolution of vertebrate immune systems and has worked with diverse species ranging from amphibians to birds to reptiles to mammals.  He has also served as both a Program Director and Deputy Division Director at the US National Science Foundation and his lab has been continuously federally funding, primarily by NSF and NIH, for more than 30 years.
