Dr. Becker is a professor of Psychiatry at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and holds dual appointments in the Departments of Integrative Medicine and Psychiatry and Human Behavior. Under her leadership as the Director of Medical Education, the Dept of Integrative Medicine has grown substantially with the addition of a full-time and part-time fellowship in Integrative Medicine as well as an inpatient expansion of clinical services, both of which she leads. Prior to this role, she served as the Director of the Psychiatry Consultation Service at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. While on the psychiatry faculty at Jefferson, she also developed and led the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship. She currently also serves as their Director of Wellness for the Psychiatry residents.

Dr. Becker has clinical expertise in a psychiatric care of the medically ill, women's mental health, and perinatal mental health using both conventional and integrative medical care.

Dr. Becker has made numerous contributions in her subspecialty fields, including serving on Maternal Morbidity and Mortality Committee of Pennsylvania, and was one of the advancing members of the American Psychiatric Association's Council for Women's Mental Health. Dr. Becker serves as the Chair for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Consultation Psychiatry Board Examination Committee. She is the immediate past President of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, where she served on their Board for the past 12 years. She is one of the original group that developed the Milestones for Psychosomatic Medicine, and also served on the revision committee.

Dr. Becker has multiple peer reviewed publications on the topics of integrative and conventional psychiatric care of the medically ill, women’s mental health and medical education. She has authored 15 book chapters. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous other psychiatry journals. Prior to medical school she obtained a master’s in Clinical Psychiatry from New York University and a master’s in Clinical Health Psychology from Ferkauf School of Psychology. She then attended Jefferson Medical College and trained in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She is board certified in Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Integrative Medicine.
