Mohammad Ali Khoshnevisan is a native of the Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. He grew up in Germantown, Maryland, for the latter half his childhood and before that he was in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He went to Seneca Valley High School where he was a part of State Championship football team. He continued his studies and athletics at Juniata College where he played football and threw for the track team breaking school record in the hammer throw.
He then completed a year of hand surgery research at Harvard Medical Schools Massachusetts General Hospital with Dr. Jupiter and Dr. Ring, pioneers in hand surgery. He attended Thomas Jefferson University where he completed medical school and a surgical internship. Completed his residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania, before completing a Hand and Microsurgery fellowship at the world renowned Kleinert Institute at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
He is a proud husband and father. His wife, Batool, is a pharmacist who most recently worked inpatient pharmacy at the VA hospital. They have a 2-year-old son and 6-month-old daughter.
Mo's brother, Amin, is an oral surgeon who is a fellowship trained pediatric craniofacial surgeon on staff in New York City at Columbia University. Mo's sister, Hanyeh, is a tax accountant who is working in the HR department at PricewaterhouseCooper. Mo's father, the original Dr. K., is a dentist with a public health background who does work helping third world countries developing oral health programs and is a professor lecturing and mentoring MPH and DrPH students. Mo's mother is a molecular biologist who worked at the Craig Venture Institute where they sequenced the first human genome in Shady Grove, Maryland.
Outside of his career Mo likes snowboarding though he hasn’t gone in many years. Otherwise he can be found watching college football rooting for the Michigan Wolverines as he was a kid there when they won the 1997 national championship. He can also be found rooting on the underdog in any other sport as well. He looks forward to attending the World Cup and the Olympics whenever time and opportunity presents itself.
