Grant Nelson (Class of 2025) was born and raised in Bakersfield, Calif. Prior to attending the Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC) at Thomas Jefferson University, Nelson graduated with high honors from the University of California Santa Barbara, majoring in Biological Sciences. He worked as an emergency medical technician, medical scribe, and caregiver before applying to medical school.

Since matriculating, Nelson has volunteered in the Philadelphia community through organizations such as JeffHOPE and Jefferson Athlete Health Organization. He has also become part of the Jefferson research community, where his current efforts are in the evaluation of a novel insulin delivery system with the department of anesthesiology. His clinical interests include anesthesiology, internal medicine, and otolaryngology.

Nelson currently serves as the medical student chair for the SKMC Alumni & Affiliates Committee.
