Treasured Textiles: The Science Behind Preservation

Today’s textiles are tomorrow’s treasures—including those found in your own home!

Join Jefferson’s Curator for the Costumes and Textiles Collection and Adjunct Professor, Jade Papa, as she shares the science behind preservation and an exploration of the University’s collection of treasures dating back as far as the fourth century. During the talk, you’ll see selections from the collection whose history bears importance both locally and nationally.

Jade will also share tips and tricks for how you can save some of your most cherished keepsakes. With many of us living and working from home, there is no better time to pull out the wedding dresses, christening gowns, family quilts, or favorite concert t-shirts from storage so they’re preserved for years to come.
