Jefferson Names Nick Ragone, Esq., Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

PHILADELPHIA (January 9, 2024) — Today, Jefferson announced that Nick Ragone, Esq., has been named Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, effective January 16, 2024. Ragone is a seasoned marketing and corporate communications counselor, nationally recognized industry thought leader, published author and frequent award winner for campaigns he has directed.

He joins Jefferson from Ascension, a global healthcare system, where for the past 10 years he has been Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. During that time, Ragone was responsible for marketing, advertising, brand experience, public relations, issues and crisis management, litigation communications, reputation management, executive visibility and thought leadership, internal communications and social media strategy. For two years prior, he was Chief Communications Officer at Ascension, and led the consolidation of all communications departments into one centralized function based in St. Louis.

“I'm thrilled to be joining Jefferson to advance their mission of improving lives by reimagining healthcare and higher education,” said Ragone. “It's an exciting time to join Jefferson as they recently announced a letter of intent to combine with Lehigh Valley Health Network, and this year Jefferson is commemorating two centuries of excellence in higher education, healthcare and commitment to our community with a bicentennial celebration.”

Ragone is a highly experienced marketing and corporate communications executive, published author of four books and a leader of numerous award-winning campaigns. During his time as Chief Communications Officer at Ascension, he led the national rebranding of Ascension’s local health systems and sites of care, the largest rebranding to date in the provider space.

“Nick has deep experience leading the marketing and communications at a large, integrated healthcare system and is ideally suited to lead Jefferson’s Marketing and Communications as we continue to come together as a unified brand focused on fulfilling our mission of improving lives,” said Jefferson CEO Dr. Joseph G. Cacchione.

Ragone has been included twice on PRWeek’s 50 Most Influential Healthcare Communicators list; three times on the Holmes Report 100 Most Influential Global Communicators list and is a board member of several non-profit organizations. Ragone graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from Rutgers University, and received his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.
