JCN Hosts Role of Nurses in Antibiotic Stewardship Forum

On December 17, 2018 the JCN hosted a forum on The Role of Nurses in Antibiotic Stewardship. The purpose of the Forum was to increase antibiotic resistance awareness among the Jefferson interprofessional community and to elicit ideas and opportunities to engage nurses in antibiotic stewardship across the Jefferson enterprise. Dr. Arjun Srinivasan, Associate Director for Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Programs, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) gave the keynote address. Dr. Mary Lou Manning, JCN Professor gave a presentation on the role of nursing and Eleanor Fitzpatrick, TJUH Clinical Nurse Specialist and JCN Doctor of Nursing Practice student participated in a panel discussion. The JCN is committed to doing its part in bringing awareness to the antibiotic resistance problem, preparing nurses for meaningful engagement in antibiotic stewardship strategies, and working with our colleagues to determine how Jefferson can become a leader in nurse engagement in antibiotic stewardship.
