University Rankings Jefferson Rises in Annual Rankings

Thomas Jefferson University rose in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings, with Sidney Kimmel Medical College moving to Tier 2 in primary care and maintaining Tier 2 in research. Research as Art Competition 2026

Celebrating the beauty of research and scholarship, Jefferson’s 2026 Research as Art competition included 44 submissions with representation from neuroscience, textile design, microbiology, occupational therapy and architecture. Our panel of judges selected winners from two categories on aesthetic quality, meaning and originality. We invite you to view the winners and all 44 submissions.

Four Innovative Programs Launched

At the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Health Data Analytics and Business Analytics, these programs — MS in Business Analytics, MS in Data Analytics, MS in Computational Biology & Medicine and Artificial Intelligence in Health Analytics Leadership Advanced Practice Certificate — aim to equip students with critical skills in an evolving job market.

School of Business New Research Lab Unveiled

Housed in Jefferson's School of Business, the Thackrah Capital Markets Research Lab expands access to live market data, financial news, and financial-sector research tools, including 12 Bloomberg terminal data feeds, to help students to make informed financial investments. The new $1.8 million research lab was made possible by a donation from alum and philanthropist John Thackrah.

College of Architecture & the Built Environment Architecture Student Elected AIAS President

Bachelor of architecture and master of urban design student Luke Vastano has been elected the 70th president of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS)— a significant national honor that highlights his leadership and Jefferson’s commitment to preparing students for impact beyond the classroom.

Kanbar College of Design, Engineering & Commerce Fashion Course Fosters Inclusion

Launched a few years ago, a fashion design class that teaches students about designing for people whom the fashion industry has traditionally overlooked — such as individuals with physical disabilities, skin sensitivity and autism — now pairs students with clients in-person. “‘Diversity in Design’ helps foster an industry of inclusion, where fashion is accessible to all,” says Carly Kusy, fashion design program director.
