This year, the College of Architecture, Design & Engineering introduced a campus chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), established in fall 2025. Thomas Jefferson University's (TJU) SWE is a student-run group dedicated to empowering women to succeed and advance in engineering and related disciplines, while promoting engineering as a positive force for improving society.
In its inaugural year, the chapter built momentum with a full calendar of events, from a bake sale fundraiser to a hands-on resume workshop. The standout event was a career panel and networking night held in partnership with the Philadelphia professional SWE society, an evening that brought industry and students together for a night of honest conversation and hands-on practice.
Panelists from Merck, Boeing, Jefferson Moss Rehab, Constellation Energy, and the Department of Transportation shared insights from diverse engineering fields. After the panel, students practiced networking and engaged in real-world scenarios with the visiting engineers.
