BS in Interior Design

At Jefferson, you’ll learn to uphold the highest standards of professionalism while developing the ability to think critically and creatively through hands-on making and design inquiry. Through a balance of real-world experiences, interdisciplinary projects and a challenging sequence of eight studio courses, you will build the skills needed to make meaningful and sustainable contributions to the interior design profession. 

In this program, you will:

• Address real-world interior design challenges across a range of project scales using human-centered and evidence-based design
• Create functional interior environments that support human experience, environmental responsibility, and well-being
• Learn to listen, adapt, engage, and lead with purpose—preparing you to transition confidently from the studio into professional practice
• Work with various disciplines and on real-world design projects
• Network with design firms through professional association memberships
• Gain valuable experience studying abroad and through internships

Central to the program is a dynamic student-centered culture that is responsive, collaborative, and driven by engagement and experimentation. A strong interior design campus community is supported by dedicated faculty and an active alumni network, extending learning beyond the studio, into the profession.

Located in Philadelphia, the program benefits from access to a wide range of internships, field trips, site visits, and professional organization member events. Partnerships with community organizations and industry professionals provide our students a unique advantage with real-world, hands-on experience. 

The College of Architecture, Design & Engineering offers multiple material and resource libraries dedicated to interior design. Students also have access to professional-quality fabrication facilities for plotting, printing, and model-making, supporting both conceptual exploration and technical development.
