Continuing the Jefferson University’s legacy as a national leader in textile education, the MS in Textile Engineering equips students with the advanced scientific, technical, and engineering expertise needed to shape the future of the global textile industry. The program blends theory and experiential learning, preparing graduates for leadership roles in technical textiles, product development, materials characterization, and emerging textile technologies.
As advanced materials and technical textiles expand across global markets, employers seek engineers who understand fiber science, product development, and performance testing. Graduates enter a field with strong career growth and diverse opportunities.
Program Highlights
- State‑of‑the‑art facilities: The Fashion & Textiles Futures Center and Bruner Materials Characterization Lab provide access to industry‑standard machinery and advanced testing instrumentation, giving students real‑world experience from day one.
- Textiles as high‑tech materials: Textiles today power industries far beyond apparel, including aerospace, medical devices, automotive, sports performance, and sustainability innovation. Students learn to engineer materials that solve real‑world technical challenges.
- Hands‑on and classroom learning: Students work on a two-semester research-based thesis as their culminating experience, using skills and knowledge they gained in previous courses to design and create a textile-based product and then characterize it.
