Biography

Dr. Payton is a population health professional committed to examining the social determinants of health and advancing health equity. Her work has focused on refugee health surveillance including the prevalence of communicable and non-communicable disease, women’s health screenings, and vaccinations. Her work has also focused on the organizational climate for workplace lactation support in Pennsylvania from the perspectives of employers, employees, and workplace lactation experts. She has published her work in peer-review journals such as the American Journal of Public Health and the Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health. Dr. Payton is Co-Chair of the Research, Evaluation, and Ethics Committee of the Society of Refugee Healthcare Providers. She is a member of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) and the American Public Health Association (APHA). Dr. Payton was elected Section Councilor for APHA's Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Section and is the Co-Chair of the MCH Section's Professional Development Committee. Dr. Payton is an Assistant Professor of Public Health and Director of the Public Health Program at Moravian University where she teaches biostatistics and epidemiology.
