Dr. Lara Phillips is a Clinical Professor at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she practices emergency medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by medical school and residency at Vanderbilt University. Further specializing, she completed a fellowship in Wilderness Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Phillips has a passion for teaching and service to the underserved in rural areas, and she continues to pursue an academic career by combining patient care and teaching in both traditional and non-traditional emergency medicine settings.
Currently, she serves as the faculty advisor of the Wilderness and Disaster Medicine Interest Group at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and as co-director of the Breckenridge Wilderness and Environmental Medicine Elective for senior medical students. Her experiences have also led her to contribute to numerous COVID initiatives and participate in national and international collaborations within the specialty of Wilderness Medicine. Dr. Phillips is excited to begin her newest role as the Founding Director of Wilderness Medicine at the Jefferson Center for Injury Research and Prevention (JCIRP).
