Research & Clinical Interests

Dr. Rivenbark is a health services researcher focused on sickle cell disease. His research uses population-level data such as insurance claims, patient registries, and electronic health record databases to examine health and health care for people with sickle cell disease. Some of his specific areas of interest include access to specialist and comprehensive care, peripartum care, and improving our understanding of drivers of mortality in sickle cell disease. He has given invited presentations on his work at NIH meetings and the American Society of Hematology annual meeting. His clinical practice likewise emphasizes sickle cell disease, while also maintaining a general hematology practice.
