New research pinpoints the age of historic pieces in Jefferson’s textiles collection.
With 95% certainty, this linen and wool tapestry woven fragment in the Textile and Costume Collection dates from between 245 CE and 402 CE.
The Textile and Costume Collection at the Design Center houses roughly 150,000 pieces from around the world. New research has now dated some Byzantine textiles back to as early as 245 CE (Common Era).
