Surgical Oncology

The Division of Surgical Oncology (est. 2024) supports our collective mission to deliver exceptional cancer care and serve our community, focusing on:

  • clinical care
  • cutting-edge research, and
  • education of the next generation of surgeons devoted to the treatment of cancer

The new division expands the Department of Surgery's clinical trial opportunities, thus significantly enhancing research capacity and output. This transformation is expected to propel research capabilities, encouraging innovation, and progress in the field.

As one of 13 divisions in the Department of Surgery, we share faculty members and advanced practice clinicians with other divisions covering such areas as:

  • complex general surgical oncology
  • breast surgery
  • melanoma
  • gastrointestinal
  • colorectal
  • peritoneal, and 
  • endocrine surgical oncology specialties

These collaborative and matrix teams will be dedicated to high-quality and value-driven patient care, education, innovation, and discovery through basic, clinical, population, and health services research.
