Jefferson is a nationally recognized leader in neuroscience care, serving patients throughout the tri-state region. Through our Telestroke & Teleneurology Program, we deliver world-class neurologic expertise directly to community hospitals, emergency departments, and mobile stroke units 24 hours/day, seven days/week
Our mission is to deliver rapid, expert neurological care wherever it is needed, improving outcomes while enabling patients to receive care close to home whenever possible.
What We Do
Telestroke
Every second counts in stroke care! Jefferson’s Telestroke team connects with local emergency departments within minutes via secure video technology. Our vascular neurologists:
- Conduct real-time neurological evaluations
- Review brain imaging instantly
- Help determine eligibility for thrombolytic therapy (such as TNK)
- Coordinate transfer to a higher level of care facility when advanced care or thrombectomy is needed.
This rapid collaboration helps hospitals deliver the right stroke care with exceptional speed and safety.
Our Commitment to Quality
Jefferson is nationally recognized for excellence in stroke and neurocritical care. Our telestroke program is founded on:
- Rapid video-based neurologic evaluation
- Standardized protocols for thrombolysis, transfers, and triage
- Close collaboration with emergency and hospitalist teams
- High rates of safe “treat-and-stay” care, allowing patients to remain at their local hospital when appropriate
- Continuous quality improvement across all partnering hospitals
We work to ensure that every site—large or small—provides timely, guideline-based neurologic care.
Teleneurology
Beyond stroke care, our neurologists provide urgent and inpatient teleconsultations for:
- Seizures
- Headache emergencies
- Confusion or altered mental status
- Neuromuscular and movement disorders
- TIA evaluation
- Neurocritical care triage
We partner closely with local physicians to support patient care and guide next steps.
