A Message from the President

I often ask us to imagine what will be obvious in 10 years - and do it now. What you'll see is that, at Jefferson, we are doing exactly that--whether it's breaking academic boundaries, nurturing creativity or preparing students for lifelong professional careers.

Institutional Pillars

Jefferson is a 195 year-old institution acting like a start-up. To see how we're doing it, you'll need to understand our four pillar model.

What I Tell New Students

Fear the Rams! Thomas Jefferson University - it's about passion and purpose. Since we merged the two historic universities, Thomas Jefferson University and Philadelphia University, we've seen an explosion of creativity dedicated to new ways to design professional education for jobs of the future.

We are creating the future, right here, right now."

Disrupt & Create

It's not every day you're on a list with Tim Cook and Jeff Bezos, but Modern Healthcare is making a point in naming us among the "12 disrupters" of healthcare. In its August 18 issue, all 12 of us are tied for #2 among the "100 most influential" individuals in healthcare.

The article is really a call for change. It reports on people who see the status quo as unsupportable.

Our Vision

We are reimagining health, education and discovery to create unparalleled value.

Our Mission

We improve lives and provide students with exceptional value in 21st century professional education.

Seeing w/ Hands

So an artist and an anatomist went into a medical school classroom. No joke! Historically, that would have been normal. But not for the last hundred years. Sadly, we've focused medical students on being memorization machines, not creative artists. Today the old partnership of art and anatomy comes back to life (I know ... no more puns) from a new thought - that creativity is an essential skill for doctors.
