What to Expect
From day one, you will take an active, hands-on approach—applying theory to design experiments that demonstrate your understanding of laws in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and mechatronics. You’ll also gain real-world experience throughout the program that allows you to:
- Work within multidisciplinary teams on industry-sponsored projects
- Work in the lab to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
- Work within the industry with our excellent internship opportunities and solve engineering problems
Your coursework will begin with foundational science, math and engineering analysis studies, then progress to using modern computer-aided design, mathematical modeling tools and manufacturing equipment, such as metal machining and 3-D printing.
Engineering design is taught from the first semester and further strengthened in upper-level courses, culminating in a two-semester senior design project. Upon graduation, you will be qualified to pursue professional engineering licensure (PE).
The BSE in Engineering program at Thomas Jefferson University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
