Shahrzad Ghane graduated from the MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences program in 2025.

What did you study at Jefferson?

Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences. (And next: PhD student in Genetics, Genomics, Cancer Biology)

Where are you from originally?

Iran, Tehran.

Why did you choose Jefferson for your degree?

Jefferson’s research areas were aligned with my research interests.

What was the best part of your time at Jefferson?

When I left home and came here, I felt like I am a part of a new family.

How has earning a Jefferson degree prepared you for your career?

For my thesis, I focused on breast cancer, which sparked my research interest in oncology and prepared me for my PhD program by equipping me with a variety of valuable skills.

What are you planning to do next?

I am going to start my PhD Program in Genetics, Genomics and Cancer Biology at Jefferson College of Life Sciences.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to our current students?

If someone had told me years ago that I would accomplish what I have so far, I wouldn’t have believed them, but here I am. So always believe in yourself, trust the path and never be afraid of trying and starting something new.
