Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP)

25-30 students are enrolled in each cohort every fall semester.

If you have a bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology /Communication Sciences and Disorders, or if you have completed all of the necessary prerequisite coursework, you will be able to graduate in 2 years (5 semesters), including one summer session.

At the present time, Thomas Jefferson University does not offer the prerequisite courses however, these courses may be taken at another institution.

The Financial Aid Office at Thomas Jefferson University assists graduate students in securing federal, state, institutional and private funding to help meet the cost of education. The Speech-Language Pathology Department also offers Dean’s scholarships for incoming students.  If a student is selected for a Dean’s Scholarship they will be notified at the time of admission.

The Thomas Jefferson University Office of Housing and Residence Life assists graduate students who wish to reside either on- or off-campus during all or part of their program.

Clinical assignments are made by the Director of Clinical Practice, but may be guided by the particular interests and/or geographical preferences of each student. Because placement at many sites is competitive, students may be required to interview for an externship.

Yes, students are required to complete a comprehensive exam during their last semester.

Students may apply for a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA).  Approximately 4 to 5 GRA positions are awarded in each cohort.  GRAs are matched with a faculty mentor and are expected to work approximately 6-10 hours weekly. Students are paid hourly by paycheck. There is no direct tuition remission connected to the GRA experience

What makes our program unique is access to “real world” state of the art clinical rotations.  You will receive four external clinical rotations with direct one on one supervision.
