Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care

The Jane and Leonard Korman Respiratory Institute and the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University have a tradition of excellence in medical education, tertiary clinical care and research and has repeatedly been listed as a top performer in the U.S.News & World Report. Under new leadership, the division is entering an exciting era of growth and innovation that includes the following additions:

We have expanded our critical care services to Methodist Hospital in South Philly, and now staff 27 medical critical care beds at Methodist and our main Center City location.

We are committed to further expand clinical services and translational research with additional recruitment of clinician investigators, under the Jane and Leonard Korman Respiratory Institute — Jefferson Health and National Jewish Health .

We have also integrated ambulatory facilities with physician offices, patient exam rooms, a complete pulmonary function laboratory with exercise facilities, conference rooms with space for patient education, imaging facilities and a sleep lab.

The Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Division has 33 full-time faculty and 15 fellows in a three-year training program.  An additional independent critical care medicine fellowship program was added this year. We oversee approximately 1,000 ICU admissions, 1,000 in-patient consultations and more than 600 endoscopic procedures each year. Moreover, there are approximately 8,000 outpatient pulmonary visits annually.
