Contact Ms. Accetta

Mrs. Accetta is the Administrative Assistant to Dr. Joseph Gonnella, Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Dean Emeritus. She came to the Center in July 2000. Prior to coming to the Center she was Secretary to the Dean of Jef­ferson Medical College. She also provides support to Center staff for the preparation of project reports, slide presentations, meetings and events.

Shira Carroll joined CRMEHC in January 2015. Shira is the Administrative Assistant for the Center and to Vittorio Maio, Managing Director. She is also the Project Coordinator for the Jefferson Scale of Empathy. Her responsibilities include providing information and permission for the use of the JSE and assessment scales to researchers around the globe. She maintains a database of clients, translations and provides quarterly reports on the project. She also provides administrative support to Center staff for a variety of projects and publications.

Lifan He earned his MS at Temple University in Health Informatics. He provides technical support for computer applications in medical education such as ExamSoft in the preclinical curriculum, the Longitudinal Study, clinical skills assessments, Clinical Clerkship Review and NBME Subject Examinations in the preclinical and clinical curriculum.

Contact Ms. DeSantis

Jennifer DeSantis is a Senior Research Study Analyst at the Center. She has over twelve years of experience in psychology and education research and management, with an M.Ed from Stanford University and a BA from Vassar College. At the Center, she performs statistical analyses for collaborative projects with faculty and students working under the Jefferson Longitudinal Study, and for the national Project in Osteopathic Medical Education and Empathy. She has co-authored seven publications since she joined the Center in 2014. She also manages technical, analytic, and scoring services for clients using the Jefferson Scale of Empathy in their institutional research, which in this past year alone comprised of twenty domestic and international research studies.

As a Senior Research Analyst, Niusha Jafari provides support for research activities related to the Jefferson Longitudinal Study (JLS), and statistical analysis for multi-institutional and nationwide projects in medical education. Additionally, she collaborates in statistical programming and analysis of projects studying and analyzing the quality and cost of health care in the Italian health care system. Last year she was involved in a study to evaluate prevalence and predictors of polypharmacy and potentially inappropriate medications in a large community-dwelling older population in Italy. Her work to study the impact of a physician-focused intervention to reduce potentially inappropriate medication (PIM) prescribing in the older population and a cross-sectional study on the prevalence of PIM in the elderly population was submitted to Drugs & Aging journal. She also continued working on a 7-year longitudinal study evaluating care processes and healthcare utilization in newly implemented Patient-Centered Medical Homes. Currently, Niusha is pursuing her PhD in Data Science at Drexel University. She earned her MS in Statistics from Temple University and MS in Engineering Management from Rowan University.

Contact Mr. Nicks

Mr. Nicks is a statistical assistant whose primary re­sponsibility is coordinating examination and evaluation services for the Medical College and the College of Health Professions. He assists with maintaining the longitudinal database of medical students and graduates, coordinating mailings, collecting data and providing statisti­cal analysis and reports. He also assists with managing computers and other hard­ware within the Center.

Contact Ms. Rabinowitz

Mrs. Rabinowtiz is Programmer/Analyst for the Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Mathematics from Rutgers University. She is responsible for SAS programming for projects in health care. In the past year, the main areas of her fo­cus have been on collaborative projects studying the quality and cost of care in the Italian health care system.
