Steps to Register

For Students (All Majors)

Registration is required for all students who wish to be considered for interviews during the Career Day & Design Expo on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

The registration process includes two steps:

  • Step 1 deadline: Tuesday, January 20, 2026
  • Step 2 deadline: Monday, January 26, 2026

Detailed instructions for each step are provided below.

Step 1:
Get Your Resume Uploaded &
Reviewed in Handshake

To participate in the interviews, you must have a resume labeled as “Reviewed” in Handshake by Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Design Students: Include a URL link or QR code to your portfolio website directly on your resume.

Tips to Create a Design Resume

Use our Design Resume Examples (PDF) and Resume Writing Guide.

A great design resume includes:

  • Your most recent experiences and accomplishments (internships, industry-sponsored projects, awards, skills)
  • In the Education section, your graduation month and date (E.g. May 2026)
  • The URL link or QR code to your portfolio website so that employers can easily view your work directly from your resume. Ideally, your portfolio website will also include your resume (on its own page or as a PDF). Make it easy for employers to find your work, regardless of where they begin.

If you would like to get your resume reviewed in person by our staff, stop by Kanbar 313 during our daily walk-in hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AM - 1 PM
  • Tuesday & Thursday: 2 PM - 4 PM

How to Upload Your Resume & Get it Reviewed in Handshake

Once you have your most updated resume, upload it to Handshake in order to get it reviewed by our staff:

  • Log into Handshake using your Campus Key.
  • Click on Your Name at the top right, then click Documents
  • Click the Add New Document button, upload your most recent resume, and select “Visible”. If your file size is too big to upload, refer to this article for help compressing a PDF.
  • The status of your resume will now say "Pending." Please allow time for the Career Services Center staff to review your resume.
    • If your resume needs changes: If we do not think your resume offers you a competitive chance at being invited to interview, we will email you suggested changes (the email will be sent from Handshake). Please make the changes we recommend and re-upload your new resume.

The status of your resume will change to "Reviewed". That means your resume is now ready to submit for Design Expo. Continue to Step 2.

Step 2:
Submit Your Resume to the Career Day & Design Expo
Job Posting for Your Major

Once your resume is uploaded and reviewed in Handshake, you will need to submit it to us by following these steps:

  • Click on the link below to go to the job posting for your major (the link will take you to Handshake where you can log in with your Campus Key).
  • Click the Quick Apply button.
  • Select your most updated resume that is marked as Reviewed.
  • When you see Application Submitted, you have successfully completed Step 2.

If you accidentally select the wrong resume, do not panic. You may change your resume until January 26, 2026. To do so, click on Your Name at the top right, then Applications. Click on the Withdraw button and then resubmit your new resume.

After January 26, 2026, your resume cannot be changed.

Click the link for your major to submit your resume once for the Career Day & Design Expo.

Submit your resume by clicking on your major. Do not submit to multiple majors.

Career Services will share your submitted resume with the employers holding interviews at the fair.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I do not have an online portfolio?

No problem. We only need the URL link to secure your registration. Right now, you should simply register for a domain (you can create a free portfolio on Portfolium) so that you can include the URL link (for instance: www.portfolium.com/yourname) on your resume to register for the Career Day & Design Expo.

Your online portfolio can be unfinished or even blank by January 26, 2026. You may continue to update the CONTENT within your online portfolio until January 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Employers will not receive your resume and online portfolio until after that date.

What changes can I make to my portfolio after the January 26, 2026, registration deadline?

  • You cannot submit a new or updated resume with your online portfolio URL link.
  • You can continue updating the CONTENT within your online portfolio, such as adding new projects or photos, until January 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM. You may also continue to update your physical portfolio until the day of the event.

Next Steps for Registered Students

All students who have completed Steps 1  & 2 will be registered to attend Career Day & Design Expo.

Registered students will receive an email from Handshake as early as Thursday, February 5, 2026, if they were selected for an interview. Students are required to select a time slot and attend the interview at that time slot for each invitation they receive. Instructions on how to select an interview time slot(s) will be included in that email.

Students will have until Thursday, February 12, 2026, based on availability, to sign up for an interview time slot.

Note that not all employers will hold interviews at the event.
