Clinical Rotations

The Clinical Year is composed of 8, 5-week supervised clinical rotations in the disciplines listed above. Rotations vary in assignment from Fall through Summer semesters during the clinical year due to preceptor availability.  Supervised clinical rotations take place in a wide variety of practice settings and locations throughout the United States in order to optimize each student’s exposure, experience, and training.

The Thomas Jefferson University PA Program approves and assigns all supervised clinical rotations sites. Students are permitted to identify and assist in the development of rotation sites; however each site must receive approval from the PA Program.

Students may be required to relocate during the Clinical Year and are responsible for all associated financial costs, including transportation and living expenses. Clinical rotations include:

  • Behavioral medicine
  • Emergency medicine
  • General surgery
  • Internal medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Primary care
  • Women’s health
  • One elective
