Ngoc Linh Nguyen is currently pursuing an MS in Sustainable Design degree.
Where are you from originally?
Hanoi, Vietnam.
Why did you choose Jefferson?
I chose Jefferson because the University has the program and courses that I was specifically looking for with its strong focus on interdisciplinary. I was also drawn to the long establishment of the sustainable design program and its flexibility with students from various backgrounds.
What is the best part of your studies?
I value the collaborative environment with other classmates from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I also really love how approachable and supportive the professors are, which made me feel comfortable.
Tell us about a project you’re working on:
I am currently working on a studio project focusing on revitalizing the East Falls River Landing area using an integrated design approach. Through this ongoing project, we are also getting the opportunity to learn about design charettes, which is a collaborative workshop that we can get involved with users and stakeholders to get their feedback and opinions. This can guide our design decisions so that we can design the space that can fit their needs, functional and sustainable.
What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?
Even though I’m only 5’1”, I used to dream of becoming a basketball player when I was in middle school. But when I realized I cannot grow any taller, I let that dream go.
