DO/MPH-PCOM

The DO/MPH dual degree option is open to students enrolled at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM).

PCOM student complete their MPH coursework between their 3rd and 4th years of medical education.

DO/MPH students from PCOM begin in the fall trimester (September) and finish their MPH coursework in the summer trimester (June). Both degrees (DO and MPH) are conferred the following May.

The DO/MPH recognizes the historical synergy between osteopathic medicine and public health. In addition to preparing osteopathic physicians for leadership positions in state and local public health departments and health centers, the degree enhances primary clinical practice with underserved populations.

Physicians with an MPH degree are prepared to make a difference at the patient's side and in the community. The degree provides advanced training in research and education and informs clinical practice with underserved populations. Physicians with an MPH degree assume leadership positions in the healthcare setting, in state and local public health departments, non-governmental health organizations, and in the global context.
