Signature Events
In addition to small-scale volunteer opportunities, we host a number of signature events throughout the academic year. For more information, see below!
Local Business & Volunteer Fair
This event, hosted in collaboration with the Career Service Center, brings together local business owners and nonprofit professionals in need of new staff and volunteers. This event allows students to get to know their local community, find volunteer opportunities, and even off-campus jobs. The Fair highlights East Falls businesses and opportunities in the surrounding area. The event is typically held during the Fall semester.
Days of Service
OSE hosts two Days of Service per academic year. These events are dedicated to encouraging volunteerism within our local communities.
Ramily Day of Service in August is a Welcome Week initiative for all first-year and new transfer students at the East Falls campus. This event brings together hundreds of new students for service around Philadelphia in collaboration with nearly 20 community partners. All new students are encouraged to participate! Ask about Ramily Day of Service during your New Student Orientation session.
MLK Day of Service in January is open to all students. While this event typically engages fewer students and community partners, the mission of service and collaboration is still central to the day. Any student is welcome to participate as individuals or with their Registered Student Organizations.
Donation Drives
Blood Drives: Each semester, OSE partners with the American Red Cross to host blood drives in the Kanbar Campus Center. Any student, faculty, staff, or community member may sign up to donate either standard blood donation or Power Red blood donation to help save lives. Interested donors can sign up for any scheduled drive on our designated page. Blood Drives are held once or twice a semester.
End of Year Donation Drive: At the end of the Spring semester, OSE hosts the End of Year Donation Drive (EOYDD) in collaboration with the Office of Residential Life. This initiative encourages students moving out of the residence halls to donate unneeded items, rather than disposing of them. The drive runs throughout the duration of finals week. Donation bins can be found in the residence halls, the Mansion, and the Kanbar Campus Center during this time.
