Academic Programs

Anesthesiology Residency

We offer a four-year ACGME accredited residency with 15 residents per year with positions offered to begin in the PGY1 Year (Categorical) or the PGY2/CA1 Year (Advanced). Offering both Categorical and Advanced positions gives flexibility to our applicants and the moderate size of the residency allows us to pay individualized attention to each of our resident physicians.

Our faculty’s expertise is reflected in their ongoing contribution to research, scholarly projects, and resident education. Residents are encouraged to contribute to scientific literature, and our department is always well represented at national conferences. The didactics program at Jefferson is designed to first build upon the basics of anesthetic knowledge and then further expand into cutting edge practices in the field. Topics are covered on a monthly basis with lectures dedicated to different training levels. Case conferences, journal clubs, mock oral boards, and simulation sessions prepare us well for BASIC, ADVANCED, and OSCE examinations. Our exceptional training results in competitive fellowship placement and post-graduate job procurement.
