Jefferson Interior Architecture Students Receive Top Honors at Lighting Competition

Three MS in Interior Architecture students recently won awards in the Design with Light competition. The contest, organized by the Philadelphia Section Chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), aims to raise awareness and understanding of the lighting design profession.

Entrants were tasked with developing a custom tabletop luminaire to be displayed as a centerpiece at the Illuminate Philadelphia day of lighting educational seminars and hands-on product demonstrations.

Deirdre Spahr ’23 took home first place, while Elena Nestico ’23 and Najia Javaid ’23 were both recognized with honorable mention. The winning lights were on display at Illuminate Philadelphia at Franklin Square on October 6, 2022.
