One of the most educationally important and distinguishing features of this joint degree program is the guaranteed textile internship. This placement provides a mechanism by which students receive real industry experience during their degree and earn academic credit for their efforts. The process for matching students with places begins as soon as the student is accepted into the program, or upon their expression of interest in a specific field in the industry. 

The internship course provides students with a structured opportunity to relate and integrate their academic study and professional practice in the textile industry. They will learn how to professionally and clearly communicate and interact with peers, colleagues and industry specialists. Students will use a range of specialist skills, practices, techniques and/or materials that are either conventional or at the forefront of development within the textile industry, taking responsibility and initiative for tasks.
