Meet Evan Anderson, JD, PhD

Evan Anderson, JD, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Public Health at Jefferson College of Population Health. He joined the College in July 2023.

Describe what you do at Jefferson.
I teach health policy and public health law courses to MPH students. My research has broadly explored the role of law as a structural determinant of health. One specific part of that work has focused on drug policy.

What's the best part of your job?
That’s tough! I find teaching and research to be such a privilege, not to mention often fun and always fulfilling.

What’s one piece of advice you give students?
Hard to beat Ted Lasso’s advice, "Be curious."

What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?
I love to garden and ride my bike to work (no matter the weather)!

Please tell us about any honors you’ve recently received.
I am thrilled to hold the inaugural JoAnne A. Epps Fellowship in Drug Policy and Substance Use Treatment, which will support work aimed at eliminating local policy barriers to a healthier response to substance use.
