What I love about Jefferson: Jefferson provides the perfect balance of clinical excellence and great community.  I have been challenged clinically in so many ways during my training here but have always felt supported by my peers.  I also appreciate the environment of learning from every member of the TJUH community.  Most importantly, my co-residents always have my back and have become my family.

Favorite things to do in Philly:  I am a big foodie, and the restaurant scene in Philly is unrivaled.  I love the diversity of cuisines here and trying new restaurants.  My top three are 1. Kalaya, 2. Suraya, and 3. Mawn.  I also love walking in Rittenhouse and along the Schuylkill River, especially in the spring time.  Philly always has something fun going on, there is never a dull moment.

Margaret Carter, MD

Academic Interests: Hospital Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Quality Improvement, Medical Education.

What I love about Jefferson: I love working at a place where everyone - doctors, nurses, staff, nurse-navigators, transport - is invested in advancing the care of patients.  The friendships I've developed at Jeff have made the hard days fun.  Everyone here is so uplifting and supportive.  Even when I'm on outpatient electives or in the clinic, I still find myself in the TJUH lounge to catch up with friends.

Favorite things to do in Philly: I moved to Philadelphia 9 years ago and never want to leave - it's the best city!  I love going to local restaurants, walking along the river trails and beautiful neighborhoods, and going to Phillies games.  This year we hosted the World Cup, MLB All-Star weekend, and America's 250th anniversary.  There is always something to do and a new restaurant to try (my favorite hobby).

Academic Interests: Pulmonary/Critical Care, POCUS, Medical Education, Community Engagement.

What I love about Jefferson: The people, easily.  I have been lucky to train with co-residents who are brilliant, supportive, and funny enough to make even the longest days enjoyable.  I love it enough to sign up for an extra year, so I think that speaks for itself!

Favorite things to do in Philly: I love walking around Philly, enjoying the architecture, and stopping at coffee shopts and restaurants along the way.  The food scene is amazing, and after years of living in Florida, I still get excited about having four seasons!

Jack Goodman, MD

Academic Interests: Heart Failure, Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Medical Education

What I love about Jefferson: I love all of my wonderful co-residents who help make residency fun and deliver the best patient care.  In my experience our mentors are very invested in our growth and careers. There is an ever present willingness to support everything you'd like to do!

Favorite things to do in Philly: Taking my dog for a morning walk with my fiance while sipping on coffee from one of the many fantastic local coffee shops.  Later on in the day, I love going to the excellent happy hours we have in the city, especially El Techo and Sampan.  We're never out of new, exciting places to visit as Philly has an incredible food scene and recently got its own Michelin Guide!
