Acute Care Surgery

The American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course is a two-day course taught by the attending staff and coordinated by the JeffSTAT Education Center. All of our surgeons are ATLS instructors and a handful of the faculty are ATLS course directors and ATLS state faculty.

The training provides student with the basic knowledge that is essential to the initial care and diagnosis of the injured patient. The curriculum incorporates didactic lecturing, small group workshops, and hands on technical training on simulators. All residents rotating on the service are ATLS certified.
