The MS in Health Studies (MSHS) is a is a flexible, fully online, 30-credit master’s program designed for students seeking a marketable master’s degree in health studies. Graduates from the Masters in Health Studies program become eligible for employment opportunities requiring an advanced degree and to continue academic pursuits into a doctoral program. The curriculum features core courses that introduce the tools of graduate-level study, and elective courses that allow students to pursue their specific academic interests. Students will also complete a mentored capstone project that engages students in the scholarly investigation in novel areas of health studies.
Students transferring from other Jefferson masters or doctoral level programs are eligible to transfer up to 21 graduate credits. Students transferring from graduate programs outside of Jefferson are eligible to transfer up to 9 graduate credits, significantly reducing the cost and time commitment of completing a masters degree.
To assist students in pursuing their academic and professional goals, specific “focus areas” of study have been developed. The focus areas are a selected collection of courses from across various Schools and Colleges within the University that are aligned with a specific domain of learning (e.g. Data Analytics and Management, Health Career Leadership, Policy and Advocacy). Focus areas are not transcripted but do provide students with a customized academic experience.
