Biography

Dr. Jean-Charles earned a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She obtained post-doctoral research training at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and Emory University.

Her doctoral training in the Reproductive, Perinatal, & Pediatric Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh, applied epidemiologic research methods to global reproductive health studies; while her postdoctoral training in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Epidemiology initiated a research interest in identifying strategies to reduce disparities in adverse postpartum maternal health outcomes in the U.S. through examining the role of social determinants of health.  Dr. Jean-Charles has published her work in peer-reviewed journals, and she has been an active member in the American Public Health Association (APHA) MCH Section, beginning service as Secretary-Elect in 2019.
