BIOGRAHPHY
Dr. Robert (Rob) Lieberthal is a health economist and strategic advisor with over two decades of experience helping healthcare organizations improve outcomes and cost efficiency. As Founder and Senior Principal of Lieberthal & Associates LLC, he specializes in designing economic models, actuarial analyses, and new healthcare technologies. Dr. Lieberthal currently serves as a Senior Advisor on Behavioral Economics to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and as an adjunct instructor in at Thomas Jefferson University. He also has active grant funding from the Casualty Actuarial Society and Society of Actuaries.
Dr. Lieberthal has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles. His book, What Is Health Insurance (Good) For?, was published by Springer and is available in Chinese translation. He earned his PhD in Health Economics from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Boston University.
In additional to his role as adjunct instructor, Dr. Leiberthal collaborates with the College of Population Health Fellowship Program in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and Dr. Richard Hass, director of the PhD in Population Health Science and MS in Health Data Science program.
