Students traveling abroad are encouraged to schedule an appointment with Student Health Services - Center City at least six weeks prior to their planned departure. Students should come to their appointment prepared with a full itinerary of their travels. Clinicians will review CDC-guidelines based on the itinerary and provide counseling and recommendations, including prescriptions and vaccines when possible.
Travelers to some destinations or with certain itineraries will be referred to Jefferson Travel Medicine. Student Health Services - Center City cannot provide some vaccinations including yellow fever vaccines, which are required for visa and travel in certain countries.
Some adult vaccinations (such as hepatitis A) and medications may be considered by some insurance plans to be for travel only and excluded for coverage. Students should be aware of insurance coverage prior to appointments.
Student Health Services - Center City recommends that all students consider travel insurance for international travel.
Any student who is sick after returning from travel should make Student Health Services - Center City staff aware of their recent travels when scheduling/checking in for their appointment and wear a mask.
