Meet Our Student: Daniel Habeeb

Daniel is currently in his fifth year of the Bachelor of Architecture program, and is participating in the unique studio class in collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects.

What are you studying at Jefferson?

I am in the Bachelors of Architecture program with a minor in computational design.

Why did you choose Jefferson?

I chose Jefferson because of its well-known history in textiles and design, which aligned well with my interest in architecture. Its proximity to home allows me to drive back on weekends if needed, and the size of the school is perfect for what I was looking for — not too big, not too small. The campus is comfortable, tight-knit, and it has all the benefits of being in Philadelphia but still plenty of grass, trees, and great places to hike.

Where are you from originally?

I tell most people I am from Scranton, Pennsylvania, but I’m actually from a small suburb outside of the city called Clarks Summit.

What is the best part of your studies?

What I enjoy most about my education here at Jefferson is the range of resources provided to us throughout all five years. There is always a way to pursue your unique interests, whether its architectural photography, animation, or in my case computational design.

What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?

In my free time I walk dogs in Roxborough and Manayunk.

Tell us about a project you’re working on or award/honor you’ve recently received.

This semester, I decided to enroll in the Zaha Hadid Studio for my final term, and it has exceeded all my expectations. The content is not only fascinating but perfectly manufactured to align with the future of architecture, in my opinion. In the few classes we’ve had so far this semester, there have been a handful of experts that have joined to explain different sectors of all things related to AI and computational design - all of which have presented and taught us in depth their expertise. Learning from such an advanced team from such a renown firm is once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I couldn't be more thrilled with what I'm learning.
