Minors offered in the College of Humanities & Sciences are designed to provide enhanced study in a particular subject area. Minors are open to all majors and require completion of 12 credits. Interested students must consult with their academic advisor before choosing a minor.
Some majors do require minors; however, even if a minor is not required by your chosen major, many students find that completing a minor offers opportunities to acquire knowledge in a complementary area or to pursue an interest or passion they have not had an opportunity to explore otherwise. Also, adding a secondary area to your primary field of study increases your versatility and flexibility in ways that may then expand your prospects for internships and broaden future employment opportunities. In some cases, minors may even be used to receive advanced standing in graduate programs. Students also have the option to develop a custom minor consistent with their personal interests and career goals.
