See JCN Nursing Students in Action

At Jefferson College of Nursing, simulation brings nursing education to life with immersive, technology-enhanced clinical experiences that mirror real-world patient care. Our students practice essential skills, clinical decision-making, and teamwork in a safe, controlled environment designed to build confidence and competence prior to entering clinical settings. Through these dynamic simulation scenarios, learners gain the preparation and assurance needed to excel in today’s complex healthcare environments.

Simulation Center Locations

Jefferson - Center City Campus

Philadelphia, PA

The Jefferson Rector Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (RCSSC), located in the Dorrance Hamilton Building at 1001 Locust Street, provides the infrastructure to support the simulation and skills teaching needs of learners and faculty at the University across all disciplines. The 60,000 square feet footprint includes skills labs, structured practice rooms, debriefing rooms, assessment suites, and high-fidelity simulation environments. The RCSSC maintains a broad set of low- and high-fidelity mechanical simulators that support training across the full spectrum of advanced nursing skills, ranging from invasive procedures to team-based communication and surgical simulation. Immersive technologies, including Oculus VR and the Igloo projection system, support experiential training in complex, real-world scenarios.

The Medical Office Building (MOB) Clinical Skills Area is located on the second floor of the MOB at 1100 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. This university-operated space supports the clinical skills teaching needs of Jefferson College of Nursing undergraduate nursing students and faculty. The area includes two bed labs (Rooms 214 and 216), five exam rooms (Rooms 232–235 and 240), office and storage space, and a waiting area.

Jefferson - Dixon Campus

Horsham, PA

The Jefferson - Dixon Campus, located at 300 Lakeside Drive, Horsham, PA, offers a 42,000-square-foot facility dedicated exclusively to nursing education. Of this space, 13,860 square feet are devoted to simulation and comprise the Center for Advanced Education, Simulation and Innovation, established through a generous philanthropic gift. The simulation center includes six exam rooms, two debriefing rooms, two large simulation labs with a shared control room, and a dedicated home-care suite with a separate control room. Immersive technologies - such as Oculus VR and the Igloo projection system - enhance experiential learning through complex, real-world clinical scenarios.

Simulation Standards

The Jefferson College of Nuring Simulation Program is built upon nationally recognized, evidence-based best practices. Simulation experiences are designed, implemented, and evaluated in alignment with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™ and the guidelines of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), ensuring consistency, rigor, and quality in nursing simulation education.
