BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Pogorzelska-Maziarz is an Epidemiologist and Health Services Researcher. Her primary appointment is as an Associate Professor at the Jefferson College of Nursing where she is the Assistant Director of the Center for Infection Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship. Dr. Pogorzelska-Maziarz earned her Master of Public Health and her PhD in Epidemiology at Columbia University. She has sound knowledge in research methodology, survey development and expertise in conducting mixed methods research studies, utilizing qualitative methods and survey data combined with large datasets. She has applied these skills to examining policy, organizational and patient-level predictors of healthcare-associated infections across the continuum of healthcare.
Currently, she is a Multiple Principle Investigator of an AHRQ-funded study titled “Prevention of Infections Through Appropriate Staffing” (R01HS029023) and a subcontract PI on an NIH-funded study titled “Infection Prevention in Home Health Care (InHOME) Competitive Renewal” (R01NR016865). Dr. Pogorzelska-Maziarz has authored over 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and other publications. She currently serves as an Academic Editor at Plos One and a section editor of the American Journal of Infection Control. In addition, Dr. Pogorzelska-Maziarz serves on the Board of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control, Inc. (APIC).
