Richard Pomerantz, PhD, Appointed to Editorial Board of "DNA Repair"

Dr. Pomerantz’s lab studies mechanisms of mammalian DNA repair and the development of cancer therapeutics and DNA/RNA biotechnologies. A major focus of the lab is studying mechanisms microhomology-mediated end-joining (MMEJ), which is an error-prone double-strand break repair pathway that depends on the unique DNA polymerase-helicase fusion protein called DNA polymerase theta (Polq).
