Diversity & Inclusion

The Jefferson OBGYN Residency Program believes that cultivating diversity creates a stronger and healthier environment for trainees to work and learn. Consequently, we have been seeking to improve the diversity of the residency classes, as well as the faculty and staff who work here at Jefferson. We value all of the individual qualities that make us unique. We also strive to support the growth and development of each trainee and continuously assess the contribution we each make to the whole.

We are prioritizing this commitment as it pertains to our application process and expectations of the group, both individually and collectively. Our goal is to expose all residents to various clinical environments and patient populations during their training with the goal of preparing our trainees to be amongst the most culturally competent doctors in the nation. We recognize that diversity is culturally necessary for a well-rounded program and expect participation from residents, faculty, students and staff to ensure that all voices are heard and considered.

As a department, we are consciously working to address inequities and end disparities of care in our communities by addressing the bias and mistreatment that is pervasive throughout academic medicine. As leaders in medicine, we want to set higher standards, lead the charge for equality and be the example for others to follow within the institution and beyond.
