The Department of Pathology & Genomic Medicine is committed to the combined missions of Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, the Clinical Laboratories of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, The Jefferson Hospital for Neurosciences, and Methodist Hospital. Home to the Daniel Baugh Institute of Computational Biology and Functional Genomics and the Institute of Computational Medicine, it supports the shared facilities of Electron Microscopy, and Anatomic Pathology. Research in the department encompasses studies in the fields of genomics, matrix biology, cancer, mitochondria, microbiology, neuroscience and immunology.
The department's esteemed physicians serve as faculty within the Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum and Pathology & Genomic Medicine's highly sought-after Residency Program. The experience, guidance, diversity, and mentorship provided by faculty and staff are just some of the reasons our residency program has historically achieved a 100% match each year. In addition to the residency program, the Department of Pathology & Genomic Medicine offers Clinical Fellowships in the fields of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine, Cytopathology, and Hematopathology. A graduate program (PhD) in Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine is also offered through the Jefferson College of Life Sciences.
