Dr. Karen Novielli is the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development and Sidney Kimmel Medical College Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development. In her roles, she oversees all of the activities that fall within the scope of the Office of Faculty Affairs, the Center for Faculty Development and Nexus Learning and the Office of Continuing Professional Development. She is the contact person for faculty affairs concerns that arise within SKMC. She facilitates the university’s faculty appointment, promotion and tenure processes, oversees contracting and compensation process for faculty, faculty governance processes and promotes policies and programs that foster faculty engagement and career development.

Micah Muldowney serves as Assistant Provost for Faculty Affairs with responsibility for the Colleges of Nursing, Health Professions, Population Health, Pharmacy, and Rehabilitation Sciences and is responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with faculty policies within these colleges. He also works closely with deans and faculty in his colleges on matters including appointment, promotion, tenure, retirement/phased retirement, professional development, faculty orientation, college reviews, FT faculty and adjunct contracts and compensation, conflict resolution, and faculty engagement and welfare.

Kristi Bergman serves as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs with responsibility for the College of Architecture and the Built Environment, Life Sciences, Humanities and Sciences, and the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering & Commerce and is responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with faculty policies within these colleges. She works closely with deans and faculty in her colleges on matters including but not limited to appointment, promotion, tenure, retirement/phased retirement, professional development, faculty orientation, college reviews, FT faculty and adjunct contracts and compensation, conflict resolution, and faculty engagement and welfare.

Erin Purcell Van Bremen

Erin Purcell Van Bremen oversees the annual Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC) Department Review and Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) College Review processes, including internal and external committee processes and resultant action plans and their annual progress reports. In addition to reviews, Erin coordinates SKMC facilities projects and the SKMC conference room reservation process.

Samantha Bruno serves as a Program Manager in the office, where she oversees a variety of tasks. Her primary responsibilities include managing the Institutional Faculty Awards,  the TJU Faculty Orientation, and the annual TJU Faculty Development programs, including the annual Faculty Days program and the Jefferson Educator Pedagogy Grant program. Beyond these duties, Samantha also oversees the Sidney Kimmel Medical College committee and governance processes.

Faculty Affairs Technology Initiatives

Ryan Halfpenny oversees Faculty Affairs IT initiatives including Interfolio which is used in the faculty Annual Performance Review process and the appointment/promotion/ and tenure processes. He provides training in Interfolio for faculty and administrative staff and creates enduring training materials. He also supports other Faculty Affairs IT initiatives including Adobe Experience Manager, Distribution List management, Peoplesoft / Workday management, Argos Reporting, QLIK dashboards, and any other IT-related projects as needed.

Remy Van Wyk oversees the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the effective and efficient operation of the Office of Faculty Affairs. She also manages and prioritizes short- and long-term special projects, programs and other initiatives as assigned by the Senior Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs.

Margaret Ryan-Atkinson serves as the Executive Assistant to Dr. Karen Novielli, the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs.  Additionally, she manages the University Committee records and the annual University faculty governance election process. Other projects she oversees include the University General Faculty Meetings, Conflict-of-Interest reporting, and Phased Retirement.  

Christine McGonigal

Christine McGonigal manages the Office of Faculty Records, which oversees the verification of credentials for all TJU faculty appointments and promotions and the faculty database which houses faculty information.  In addition to this primary function, she also coordinates meetings of the SKMC Faculty Affairs Committee, the University A/P/T Committees and the BOT approval process.  Christine and her team manage the faculty database and oversee reports generated from the faculty database to accreditation agencies among other entities.
