We take your health and well-being seriously. We offer a variety of wellness resources and incentives to help you remain a healthy member of our vibrant community.

Faculty Wellness Resources

This collection of resources aims to support faculty in their efforts to create a healthy learning environment for student learning and success. Use this collection as you would a menu; it includes a variety of evidence informed strategies, tools, and resources from which to pick and choose. Because student well-being is dependent on faculty well-being, please remember to review the mental health and coping resources specifically for you, as faculty.

14 Days of Isolation Activities Resource

This resource provides students fourteen suggested activities to pass the time if in isolation or quarantine.

JeffBIT Red Folder

The Jefferson Behavioral Intervention Team (JeffBIT) provides support to faculty, staff, and students when they recognize students with concerning, disruptive or inappropriate behaviors that should be addressed but does not require immediate follow-up. Red Folders are provided for each campus to support faculty to recognize, respond to, and refer distressed students to campus resources.

Suicide Prevention

The Student Counseling Center (SCC) has a number of suicide prevention resources available to students, staff and faculty.

Instructions for faculty on how to self-enroll to the Jefferson Student Counseling Center (SCC) CANVAS site. The CANVAS site includes the SCC mission, contact information, and services including how students access counseling services. The SCC CANVAS site includes a multimedia e-library with print, audio, and video resources on topic areas related to mental health and wellness, including a section of faculty resources. Don’t forget to check out our monthly SCC wellness e-newsletter.

Once you enroll, please take a look around our site. Below are a few of the things we have on the site that are beneficial to students but also to you.

Students

SCC Services: students are able to go to the site and find information about how to obtain services and how to contact the Student Counseling Center.  We created Welcome to the Student Counseling Center videos that quickly educate students about the Student Counseling Center as well as our multicultural focus. 

Multimedia Library: We have and will continue to build videos and audios with helpful interventions to help manage stress and other special topic areas.

Newsletters: We feature the current month’s newsletter on the home page but we also have the current and previous newsletters available as well.  Click on modules on the left tab to see all of the newsletters

Faculty & Staff

There is a section on the site labeled Faculty and Staff and includes information for you when faculty and staff are considering referring a student to the Student Counseling Center.

There is also a link for faculty and staff to directly complete a BIT report when they are concerned about a student’s welfare.

Finally, we now have a new system for your requests for presentations from the Student Counseling Center. 

Please follow the following steps in order to submit your request.

  •  Self-enroll in our SCC Canvas site
    • .Once you click on the link, you will be asked to provide your campus key and password.  
    • Once you get onto the site, you should click the Outreach button on the welcome page. 
    • Click on Orientation, Invited Speaker and Specialized Workshop Requests.  
    • Once there, a form will open up and you can submit your request.

Taking Care of Yourself & Others During Times of Stress Special Presentation Available On-Demand

This resource is a special presentation for faculty and staff on Operational Stress Control & Psychological First Aid.The session is presented by Steven Crimando, MA, CHPP, CTM, a traumatic stress expert with more than 30-years of frontline experience in emergency management and the behavioral sciences. He reviews tenets of operational stress control through the lens of how to fortify yourself while experiencing stress, and how to check in on others who may not outwardly ask for help.
