Never Said I'm Sorry by Lauren Strailey

This painting began after a very close relationship I developed during the COVID-19 quarantine shifted into a physically distant one. I used the process of painting such detailed patterns and motifs to consider how I see myself both inside and outside of relationships. Working on this painting for over two years has allowed me to consider the drastic mindsets I’ve occupied visually and introspectively. I have a lot of beautiful, vivid, memories attached to this period but also plenty of overwhelming regrets. This work seeks to represent visually what it felt like to fall in love during a time when everything was uncertain.
