Puzzle Project by Jacqui Johnson

This art installation, that will be shown in April 2024 which is recognized as 2nd Chance Month, embraces the collective spirit of resilience, empowerment, and hope. Each piece is a unique puzzle, created by women who are being held at the Philadelphia County Women’s Jail. Every puzzle piece weaves together into an evolving tapestry of interconnected stories and expressions, with over 200 pieces contributing to this shared narrative. As you immerse yourself in this space, you're invited to not only observe but to engage deeply with the artwork. Ponder the imagery and let the stories unfold around you. Adjacent to the installation, there will be tables with art materials. Here, you are encouraged to craft your own puzzle piece which will be shared back with the creators within the jail. This exchange creates a powerful dialogue, an acknowledgment of their artistry, and an opportunity for us all to reflect on the profound connections art can foster.
